Wide receiver Julio Jones wasn’t much on the pitch for the Titans in the second half of Sunday’s win over the Colts and head coach Mike Vrabel said in his post-game press conference that the team “just trying to manage where he’s at” when asked why he wasn’t on the pitch.

The Titans stuck with this approach despite losing AJ Brown to a hamstring injury and Vrabel said on Monday the team would only use Jones in an emergency as the gap was facing tension. Vrabel also insisted the decision had nothing to do with how Jones has played so far this season.

“It’s not a problem with his performance,” Vrabel said, via the team’s website. “It’s okay with anything other than me making a decision and saying, ‘Hey man, let’s see if we can get over that and survive and win this football game. . . . I can’t be more categorical about Julio’s performance and what we asked him to do – he did what we asked him to do. He played with a lot of effort.

Jones had three catches for 47 yards on Sunday and totaled 12 catches for 204 yards this season.
