PHILADELPHIA (WPVI) – A Philadelphia man faces murder charges in connection with the murder of a Temple University graduate who was shot while walking his dog.

Police say Davis L. Josephus, 20, is charged with the murder of Milan Loncar, 25. A second man of interest has been identified, police said.

Loncar was walking his dog a block from his home when he was approached by two suspects during an attempted theft Wednesday night on 31st and Jefferson Streets in the city’s Brewerytown neighborhood.

Video shows the two suspects attempting to rob Loncar before he is shot in the chest. Loncar later died in hospital.

Court documents reveal that Josephus was recently released on bail for another crime. Arrest records show he has a history of thefts, kidnappings, and weapons charges.

Action News spoke to Loncar’s mother, Amy Lounsberry, who said she was shaking upon hearing the news of the arrests made in the murder of her son. She says she wants justice and answers.

With the song and the glow of cell phones, Loncar’s family and friends lit up his portrait during a vigil in his honor on Friday.

“He was my soul mate and I don’t think I have a plan without him anymore,” said Loncar’s girlfriend Olivia Gorski.

The couple were due to move in together next month and start their life together.

Loncar’s mother and sister, Jelena Loncar, have also spoken of the stolen life far too soon.

“You took so much from us. You hurt the neighborhood,” Lounsberry said.

“It’s not just one life,” Jelena added.

Loncar, who recently graduated from Temple University, is remembered as a kind and gentle man who loved his family, friends and his dog, Roo, who never left him after the shooting.
