Les Miles was ousted from his job as head football coach in Kansas after allegations of inappropriate behavior with women at LSU.

Kansas athletic director Jeff Long said in a statement that the school and former Louisiana State University coach “have mutually agreed to go their separate ways.”

Miles also issued a statement calling it a “difficult day” for him and his family.

“I love this college and the young men in our football program. I really enjoyed being the head coach of KU and I know it’s a better place now than when I arrived.”

The Advocate, the New Orleans newspaper, said KU has started the search for a new head coach.

Miles was put on administrative leave on Friday night, hours after a report released by LSU revealed that school officials there were considering firing him in 2013 because of his behavior with female students.

Miles, 67, was entering his third year as Kansas coach and coming out of a 2020 season winless. He coached at LSU for over 11 years before being sacked four games in the 2016 season.

He denied allegations that he made sexual advances to students and said he was simply looking to mentor students who had expressed interest in pursuing a career in sports.
