Miley Cyrus said she felt traumatized after examining her sexuality from a young age.
The former Disney star, who just released his new rock album Plastic hearts, received intense media coverage during his teenage years.
Cyrus said Rolling stone that she felt that there had been “great strides” in media coverage, “especially with regard to women and bodies”.
“I don’t even know if you can really shame the bitch now.” Is it even a thing? she asked. “The media haven’t really shamed me for a long time.
“At one point I was like, ‘Yo, when I’m 16 and you circle my boobs and my shit like that… Am I the bad guy?’ I think people are starting to say, “Wait, wait, wait. It was fucked up. They begin to know who was the enemy and who was the victim.
However, Cyrus admitted that it was probably his personal experience of being in the spotlight that had impacted her.
“I think I knew who I was meant to be, but I’m sure there’s something in there,” she says. “A certain trauma of feeling so criticized, I think, for what I felt like a pretty average teenager, early on. [twenties] exploration.”
In the same interview, Cyrus recalled times when she had been referred to as “crazy” and said there were times when she was “cold or unable to settle down,” a topic she brings up in her. new song, “Angels Like You”.
“I had a little bit of guilt or shame with this song in the way it’s written, but now that I’m listening to it, it’s actually an apology,” she says. “He said, ‘It’s not your fault that I ruin everything, and it’s not your fault that I can’t be what you need.’ My independence and, I guess, my survival instincts allow me to appear selfish.
Cyrus received overwhelmingly positive reviews for Plastic hearts.
The independentHelen Brown’s chief album reviewer hailed the record as “a truckload of fun” and praised Cyrus’ singing ability.
“From beginning to end, Plastic hearts dresses up catchy, indebted 80s pop melodies in rock studded leather, lets them spin a few wheelies and maximize speed, ”she writes.
“It’s essentially a fun truck with extra blood and guts, driven by Cyrus’ reckless, open-throated, soul-carrying charisma.
