Miley Cyrus takes on Mazzy Star’s ‘Fade into You’ in her latest performance

Miley Cyrus recounts her latest songs and covers more.

The 28-year-old “Golden G String” singer took part in NPR’s Tiny Desk concert Thursday which saw her kick off the performance with a cover of Mazzy Star’s “Fade into You” before delving into two tracks – ” Golden G String ”and“ Prisoner ”- from his 2020 album,“ Plastic Hearts ”.

The performance began with the singer wearing a pair of sunglasses, a cowboy hat and a faux fur coat in a tiny microcosm of a bedroom.

After concluding his performance of the hit song Mazzy Star, Cyrus slowly undresses his fur coat, hat and glasses.

“They told me I should cover it up, but I went the other way around,” Cyrus appropriately sings in “Golden G String” as she clings to herself.

The line is reminiscent of a December social media post, in which Cyrus unveiled a steamy Rolling Stone photoshoot with the same song quote in the caption.

The daughter of Billy Ray Cyrus, 59, and Leticia “Tish” Cyrus, 53, has long been a champion of body positivity and women’s rights to bare naked. In her interview with Rolling Stone, she said that over the past two years “great strides” continue to be made in enabling women to feel free in their own bodies.
