Millie Bobby Brown accosted by fan and urges people to ‘show more respect for others’

Millie Bobby Brown opened up about one of the downsides of celebrity taking to Instagram Stories on Monday, explaining how one fan spoiled an outing she bought for holiday giveaways.

“ I’m always trying to navigate all of this and it’s always overwhelming, ” the Stranger Things actress said in a tearful black and white clip.

She described the circumstances of the situation, when a fan approached her to take a video but she politely declined.

“She said, ‘Can I take a video of you? Explained Millie. ‘I said, “Uh, no.” But why would anyone want to be filmed? Of me? It’s not like the two of us.

Brown, 16, said she didn’t feel pressured to stop for videos for anyone asking, “I don’t need to justify it to anyone; if I don’t want to be filmed, I don’t have to be.

The British actress said the fan crossed the line when she continued to film her – against her will – after she finished shopping.

“ I was paying and she walked past me and started filming me again – and I said, ‘I’m a human, what more can I ask of you?’ Brown said.

The Enola Holmes star said she told the fan why it made her uncomfortable.

‘She said, “So I can’t take a video of a human being?” Brown recalls. ‘And I said, “No, not when I said no.” It upsets me when people try to push the boundaries, and I just wish people were more respectful.

The Emmy-nominated performer asked her fans to be understanding and cordial when approaching others in public.

“ You have to show other people more respect no matter who they are, what they do – it’s just manners, ” she said.

In a subsequent clip, Brown reassured her fans that she was doing ‘absolutely fine now’, adding that she felt ’emotional at the time because [she] I felt uncomfortable and disrespected.

It was a difficult month for the actress, who lost her grandmother Ruth to Alzheimer’s disease.
