Milo Yiannopoulos Named Marshal of "Straight Pride" Parade in Boston

Organizers of the Boston "Straight Pride" parade have named right-wing provocateur Milo Yiannopoulos as the event's grand marshal.

The leaders of the Super Happy Fun America group say that the parade "will defend the interests of the right-wing community". The group named Yiannopoulos, an openly gay and far-right provocateur, as the grand marshal and mascot of the parade.

"I may be technically a glittery and perfectly coiffed friend of Dorothy's, but I have spent my entire career defending the most brutally repressed rights of identity in America – heterosexuals – so I know one or two aspects of discrimination, "Yiannopolis said in a statement.

Super Happy Fun America, led by President John Hugo, initially used the resemblance of Hollywood actor Brad Pitt as mascot, but removed Pitt's name and image from the website after receiving a letter from his lawyers.

The parade is tentatively scheduled for August 31, although the group has not yet been granted permission to host the event. Boston Mayor Marty Walsh said the event did not reflect Boston's values.
