Things have not started as well as one might think for Odorizzi. He conceded a double as he faced his second hitter of the evening and saw a lot of tough touches from the Tiger hitter, but he then pulled out 20 consecutive hitterers before leaving the match at the end of the seventh inning. His ERA drops to 2.32 overall and 0.86 in his last five outings. It was also his third consecutive goalless start, in which he pitched at least six innings.
The offensive was also strong in support of Odorizzi. Jorge Polanco led in three points and Mitch Garver and Max Kepler each scored points at home. Minnesota now has a +44 points differential and 66 home runs in second place in AL, which is equal for second place in the league.
