Minnesota Vikings’ 2021 salary cap space in the NFL after free agency move

Earlier this offseason, Minnesota appeared to be living up to the 2021 base salary cap, but that hasn’t stopped the team from maneuvering throughout free agency.

The Vikings released LT Riley Reiff, TE Kyle Rudolph, and K Dan Bailey. Then, the team made big splash by signing DT Dalvin Tomlinson and CB Patrick Peterson. Minnesota have also signed Xavier Woods, a safety who could ostensibly be a starter in 2021.

So where does that leave the Vikings in terms of salary cap space? After the team agreed to terms with Mackensie Alexander and Woods, Minnesota ended up with $ 7.4 million in 2021, per Chris Tomasson of the Pioneer Press. This cap number also added Nick Vigil’s contract, per Tomasson.

Keep in mind that Rudolph received a designation after June 1, which means his cap savings will not be harvested until then. I wouldn’t expect any more major changes in free agency, but with this team you never know.
