Police found the decapitated body and head lying next to a vehicle upon arrival, along with a large knife, bloody shirt and shoes in a nearby trash can, according to an affidavit obtained by KTSP.

“I thought I saw a body on the sidewalk, but I wasn’t too sure,” Carrol Erath, who lives nearby, told local media. “It’s shocking, I just couldn’t believe someone would be so brutal to someone else.”

Investigators believe Saborit knew Thayer and it was not a random attack, Shakopee police said. Saborit has been in Scott County Jail since Thursday evening.
