Minot-area man in his 20s dies from COVID-19 as active cases rise in North Dakota

BISMARCK – Here are the North Dakota Department of Health COVID-19 case, death, hospitalization and vaccination rates as of Wednesday, February 24. Because all data is preliminary, some numbers and totals may change from day to day.

Statewide case rate

  • NEW CASES: 118
  • TOTAL ACTIVE CASES: 702
  • TOTAL CASES: 99,531
  • TOTAL RECOVERED: 97,389
  • DAILY TEST POSITIVITY RATE: 2.2%

North Dakota’s number of active cases rose by 11 on Wednesday. Twenty-eight of the new cases were from Cass County, while 23 were from Burleigh County.

The North Dakota Department of Health reported the death of a Ward County man in his 20s on Wednesday. Hospitalizations have dropped by three in the past day.

Vaccinations

  • FIRST DOSE ADMINISTERED: 115,587 (15.8% of the population)

  • COMPLETE SERIES (TWO DOSES): 62,794 (8.6% of the population)

The state continues to be a national leader in vaccine distribution, with almost 90% of doses received having already been administered. The health department urges residents to seek more information at www.health.nd.gov/covidvaccinelocator.
