LAKE ODESSA – An Ionia County company has been fined by the state of Michigan for alleged COVID violations in the workplace.

The Michigan Occupational Safety & Health Administration (MIOSHA) has fined Jerry’s Tire $ 3,500 at Lake Odessa, the state said Friday.
The Daily News called Jerry’s Tire for comment and was referred to the company’s human resources division. The Daily News left a message with human resources seeking comment.
According to MIOSHA, an inspection was carried out at Jerry’s Tire after an employee filed a complaint.
The MIOSHA quote indicates that on July 8, Jerry’s Tire failed to provide a workplace free from COVID risks.
According to MIOSHA, Jerry’s Tire did not train employees on infectious disease preparedness and a response plan for the facility; did not post signs advising employees to stay home when sick or advising employees of proper cough and sneeze etiquette and hand hygiene; failed to perform daily in-person or visual health checks of employees prior to entering the establishment or instructed employees to self-monitor for signs and symptoms of COVID; allowed employees to stand within six feet of each other while speaking without covering their faces; and failed to regularly clean and disinfect frequently touched objects and surfaces.
According to MIOSHA, Jerry’s Tire can appeal the fine.
