Water levels have dropped slightly along a rain-swamped creek in northern Indiana, where they are looking for a missing 4-year-old boy, authorities said. The research teams were returning to Deer Creek in Delphi on Saturday morning in search of the boy, identified as Owen Jones.

Officials were using drones, boats and a sonar to search the creek, located about 60 miles northwest of Indianapolis. They searched until noon Saturday before ending their efforts, said Lt. Dan Dulin, of the state's Department of Natural Resources, at CBS affiliate, WLFI.

A witness on a bridge saw Jones being transported downstream Thursday night and informed the authorities. The child was playing in Riley Park in Delphi, crossed by the creek.

The creek is normally safe, said Dulin, but the floods have made its currents dangerous. "It would not be unusual to see people wading or swimming in the water here," Dulin said.

"I have the impression that it's probably just the children who were misunderstood or did not realize that the conditions were different from what they had seen last time," he said. he added.

According to Accuweather, thunderstorms are expected in Delphi on Saturday afternoon, and the rainy weather will continue Sunday and Monday.
