MISSING FIREFIGHTERS IN FLORIDA: Missing firefighters: 180 volunteers looking off the coast of Jacksonville

JACKSONVILLE, Fla. – More than 180 volunteers responded to the call from the Jacksonville Fire and Rescue Service to obtain more boats in search of missing firefighters Brian McCluney and Justin Walker.

Tuesday, more than 70 boats were launched from Mayport, double the number of ships that were the subject of a search for volunteers Monday in Jacksonville.

Patrick Sawyer's boat is equipped with a sonar and a navigation system to map the bottom of the ocean.

He canceled all his surveying work to look for McCluney and Walker.

"We are going to set up a model and we will go back and forth all day, two pairs of binoculars, just look and watch – all we can to help," he said. .

He was one of more than 180 volunteers who visited the Mayport Boat Ramp at dawn.

Some came out of the state, carrying enough supplies to stay at sea all day.

"They're civil servants, they risk their lives every day here to help us, we have to do our part to help them," said Waycross's Richard Meeks.

Each captain is assigned a sector or grid.

They searched Brunswick at Daytona Beach.

Some boats were equipped with four engines, enough to hold a lot of water.

JFRD and the US Coast Guard said they had no intention of canceling the search.

While the Coast Guard explores the ocean and sky, 180 volunteers from Jacksonville are off our shores.
