Missing Fort Hood soldier unharmed, family say

The soldier from Fort Hood who was believed to be missing has been declared unharmed.

Fort Hood officials said Sunday evening that management at Pfc. Jennifer Sewell’s chain of command spoke to her family, who confirmed she was “safe and with her extended family.”

“Pfc. Sewell is a valued member of our team, and our number one priority is to ensure her safe return. We are in regular contact with her family and will provide any help she and her family may need to return to Fort Hood “, Ltc. Sewell was reportedly missing after she failed to report for work on Oct. 7, and all attempts to contact her by investigators, her chain of command and her family have failed, according to the Fort Hood Emergency Services Directorate. ( FROM).

Investigators said Sewell was last seen leaving his barracks at around 4 p.m. on October 7.

“The initial investigation appears to indicate that Sewell left of his own free will for unknown reasons,” DES said in a statement.

Sewell, who does not own a vehicle, is described as a black woman, 5 feet 5 inches tall, with brown hair and brown eyes, investigators said.

Fort Hood officials said on Sunday they were continuing to communicate with Sewell’s family and friends “to ensure she has access to the resources she may need and to get her back safely to Fort Hood.” .

They added that they respect the privacy of the family and “will not provide any further information until the appropriate time.”
