Much like the 2021 MLB Little League Classic between the Los Angeles Angels and Cleveland began in Williamsport, Penn. On Sunday night (gametracker), the MLB announced the two fighters for the 2022 game. We cannot say that this will be the fifth annual Little League Classic, as the pandemic has prevented the event from taking place in 2020, but the 2022 version will be the fifth iteration. The teams that were to compete in 2020 will be those that compete in 2022.

The 2022 MLB Little League Classic will see the Boston Red Sox take on the Baltimore Orioles. It will be a home game for the Orioles. As has become tradition, it will be the Sunday night game on ESPN at 7 p.m. ET.

“We are delighted to have been selected to compete in the Little League Classic next year,” said Mike Elias, executive vice president and general manager of Orioles. “Our players and staff were very excited to spend time with the next generation of players and fans at the 2020 event before it was canceled, so that we could have the opportunity to compete against the Red Sox next season at Historic. Bowman Field while supporting the Commissioner’s efforts to develop the game are a tremendous honor for our club. “

“We are delighted to be part of one of MLB’s last traditions that directly connects Major League players with the next generation of potential stars of the game,” said Red Sox president Tom Werner. “Playing the Orioles at Historic Bowman Field is an honor and we look forward to deepening the connection between today’s youth and the American hobby.”

The Little League Classic takes place at Bowman Field, where Major League Baseball has invested millions of dollars to renovate ahead of the first Little League Classic in 2017 between the Cardinals and Pirates.
