Mets add Villar to roster in utility role

New York traded for All-Star shortstop Francisco Lindor this winter, Jeff McNeil is expected to return to his natural position at second base, Pete Alonso appears to be a lock at first base (especially since there will be no universal DH in 2021), but third base is no lock with Luis Guillorme and JD Davis set to compete for the starting spot. Davis has been mentioned in trade rumors, but Rosenthal notes the club are unsure what Davis would get in a potential comeback.
The Milwaukee Brewers are also “intrigued” by Turner, Rosenthal adds. Our own Mike Axisa noted the Brewers as the best alternative to the Dodgers for Turner, citing the club in serious need of improvement on the pitch, even after Kolten Wong signed this winter.
Turner, 36, has been a mainstay of the Dodgers since signing with the club as a free agent in 2014. He has performed well in the abridged 2020 season, cutting .307 / .400 /. 460 with four home runs, nine doubles and 23 RBIs in 175 field goals.
Giants sign McGee to two-year contract
The Giants have signed left-hander Jake McGee to a two-year contract worth $ 7 million, according to Jon Heyman of MLB Network. After months of free agency, St. Louis Cardinals wide receiver Yadier Molina will be back at his longtime club.
