MLB: The Show 21 is slated to become the first PlayStation Studios game for Xbox when it launches on April 20.
In an announcement on cover athlete Fernando Tatis Jr.’s PlayStation blog, the PlayStation account also revealed that the baseball simulation will launch day and date on PS4 and PS5, as well as cross-play support with Xbox. One, Xbox Series X, and Xbox Series. S.

While the news may seem like a shock to all Xbox and PlayStation purists, it was already announced in 2019, MLB The Show 21 will be the franchise’s first cross-platform game.
In the PlayStation blog post, Ramone Russell, game designer and online community manager at San Diego Studio, revealed that MLB: The Show 21 would become the first title in the MLB franchise to make its way to a platform. not PlayStation.
He writes: “We are delighted to share that with our expansion announced with MLB® and MLB players, MLB The Show 21 will be available for players on PlayStation 5, PlayStation 4, Xbox One and Xbox Series X | S. Russell also confirms that cross play between PlayStation and Xbox users will be in the game, as well as cross progression for “whatever platform and generation you choose.”
While a baseball simulation might not be for everyone, it’s pretty important to see a PlayStation game released on an Xbox console. Could that open the door to more cross-console games?
