MLB trade rumors: Braves reportedly seek help from paddock and bat before deadline

We’re just over five hours away from the MLB trade deadline and time is running out for the Atlanta Braves who come into play Friday just four games behind the New York Mets in the NL East standings. Before the deadline, the Braves maintained they were looking to add to the roster and had no plans to sell.

MLB Network’s Jon Heyman reported Friday morning that Atlanta is seeking help with a bullpen and a bat.

Atlanta’s rotation has stabilized in recent weeks, even with an injury to Ian Anderson, so focusing on the reliever box, which has been inconsistent at best this season, appears to be the top priority. The team could also use offensive reinforcements, especially in the outfield where they lost their entire squad on opening day.

Of course, it remains to be seen if anything comes to fruition before the deadline and there is no indication of who they are targeting. With Atlanta within striking distance of the division, they’ve struggled to string together any form of sustained success this season, as their record of 51-52 entering today shows, so the question remains at which point they will be really aggressive.
