On Wednesday, a record six Seattle Sounders were included in the starting lineup for the MLS All-Star game against Liga MX. This is equivalent to the record for most players from a single MLS team to start an All-Star game, tying DC United in 2006.
Perhaps even more remarkable that six Sounders named in the starting lineup are two brothers, Cristian and Alex Roldan. They are the first pair of brothers to even be named to the same all-star team. They are joined by Yeimar Gomez Andrade at center-back, Raúl Ruidíaz at front, João Paulo at defensive midfielder and Nouhou at left-back. Nouhou, who came out with an adductor injury, will make his first appearance of any kind since May 30.
The starters traditionally don’t play more than half, with some going even less. Assuming it does, it may actually be a favor for someone like Nouhou who needs the minutes.
To start up: 6.30 p.m.
TV: FS1, Univision
Diffusion: FuboTV
