Stefanie Sherk, the model wife of actor Demian Bichir, died at the age of 37.
The Oscar nominee confirmed Wednesday's death on Instagram with a heartfelt message that she died "peacefully" on April 20th.
"It was the saddest and most difficult time of our lives and we do not know how long it will take us to overcome this pain," wrote Bichir, 55, under a model photo. "We sincerely hope that our beautiful Stefanie, my angel and my love for my life, will rest in eternal peace."
The cause of the death of the Canadian model has not been revealed.
Sherk and Bichir, who started dating in 2010, had a daughter named Gala.
In addition to her modeling career, Sherk appeared in her Mexican husband's movie "A Cuento of Circo & A Love Song" and recently shot the horror film "Grudge".
"Stefanie's beautiful, angelic and talented presence will be sorely missed," wrote Bichir. "We will keep Stefanie in our hearts forever."
