If you’ve watched an episode of “Modern Family,” you’ll probably recognize one of the latest social media sensations.
Aubrey Anderson-Emmons first captured the hearts of sitcom fans as the adopted daughter of Lily, Mitchell and Cameron. After completing the show last year, the young actress has now taken her theatrical skills to a whole new platform: TikTok.
The 13-year-old has been on the social media app for some time and her videos average between 20 and 50,000 views, but her followers have recently skyrocketed from 60,000 to 200,000+ in a matter of days.
The teenager’s page quickly went viral in recent weeks, and social media users discovered she had some pretty nasty lip-syncing and dancing skills. A typical example? In mid-January, more than 150,000 TikTok users viewed her silent rendition of Doja Cat’s song “Streets”.
Days later, the actor posted a video of herself lip-syncing and dancing with friends, and the video garnered over 320,000 views.
Understandably, watching her page suddenly attract so much attention was a surreal experience for the teenager.
“I wasn’t expecting this at all because I’ve been on TikTok since 2019,” she told TMRW over the phone. “But then I woke up a few days ago and saw that one of my videos had blown up and it was crazy.”
Several of the 13-year-old’s recent videos have been viewed over a million times, like this one where she says the words “What you feel is not my problem” from the song “Female Energy” by Willow Smith.
Another short clip of the teenager lip-syncing and dancing in a floral dress has captured the attention of 5.7 million social media users and account.
When asked how she decides which songs to feature in her videos, Anderson-Emmons said she usually takes inspiration from TikTok’s “For You” page. She also seems to have a fairly eclectic taste in music and has stated that she enjoys everything from Kanye West to the Beatles lately.
“I listen to a bit of everything,” she told TMRW.
The talented teenager said she loved music for as long as she could remember and that her mother, who had studied music in college, inspired her passion.
“I listen to music all the time. I’ll be in the shower and I’ll probably sing a song, ”she said.
The actor considers dancing to be one of his favorite hobbies and said that filming his videos gave him the opportunity to practice his movements. Most of the videos are only a few seconds long, but Anderson-Emmons admitted that it may take him a while for his choreography to be perfect.
“It depends on the song. I’m a perfectionist,” she says. “It might take a day to learn the dance. A lot of them are super tough.”
Amy Anderson made her daughter wait long enough to get a TikTok account and said she keeps a close eye on the page and checks it daily. Still, the proud mom said the teenager had very good judgment for her age.
“She’s a good girl and she’s a smart girl and she’s there just to have fun. She understands that when you put something in there the whole world will see it,” he said. she told TMRW. “It’s a fun way for her to have a creative outlet and I think it’s really cool that it encourages her to dance.”
