A suspect was arrested Friday after throwing a Molotov cocktail in the lobby of a US immigration and citizenship office in Florida, according to a report. This was the latest in a series of attacks against homeland security facilities.

According to authorities, the unidentified woman entered the Oakland Park office – about 33 km north of Miami – and threw a gasoline bottle with a fuse on. But the fuse was detached from the bottle before it could ignite, according to a report of the incident sent to the administration officials and viewed by the Associated Press. No major injuries have been reported.

Citizenship and Immigration Services – an internal security agency – handle legal immigration cases and are led by Acting Director Ken Cuccinelli, who reacted to the incident on Twitter late Friday night. Cuccinelli – a supporter of President Trump's tough stance on immigration – was instructed to make recent policy changes, including the so-called "public office" rule that could deny green cards to many legal immigrants who use Medicaid, food vouchers and vouchers or other forms of public assistance, according to Associated Press.

"Today's attack attempt against one of our USCIS settlements using a Molotov cocktail is another example of the use of violence instead of debate by those who oppose the correct application of our immigration laws, "said Cuccinelli on Twitter, in a message sharing a link to the Associated Press report.

"This is the second attack on a DHS installation in two months with a Molotov cocktail. Violence does not belong in our society. Fortunately, no one was injured today. We are grateful to our security guards and law enforcement officers who apprehended and arrested the assailant. "

Those working for another national security agency – Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) – have faced a growing number of threats, including protesters threatening their children and gunshots fired at their offices, in a context of leftist anti-ICE rhetoric, fueled by congressional Democrats, media and presidential candidates.

About two weeks ago in San Antonio, at least one vehicle stopped in a building housing offices for ICE and an armed man fired shots through a window, FBI officials said. Nobody was hurt. Another building used by ICE was also targeted.

In July, a 69-year-old man – who had written a manifesto claiming to identify with the far-left Antifa – had opened fire on an ICE center in Tacoma, Washington State. where thousands of migrants had been housed. He also set fire to a vehicle and attempted to light propane tanks in an attempt to burn down the ground before being shot by police.

It was not clear what prompted the woman to throw the bottle during Friday's Florida incident. The security guards handcuffed her and submitted her until she could be arrested by agents of the Federal Protection Service. Law enforcement officials do not believe that this attempted attack was related to other incidents, reported the Associated Press.

The report did not mention the woman's name or the criminal charges she faced. The office was closed for the day.
