Monica Rambeau has just had a pretty special moment in the last episode of “WandaVision”. The character of Teyonah Parris has been a key part of the series so far, but she now appears to be an integral part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe going forward after episode seven is revealed.

Warning: Spoilers.

Fans have been speculating for some time now that Monica Rambeau could gain superpowers by entering and exiting Wanda’s Westview, which is surrounded by energetic boundaries.

In the comics, Rambeau is also known as the Photon / Pulsar superhero and, more recently, Spectrum. She gained her powers after being touched by extra-dimensional energy and is known as the second Captain Marvel.

Until episode seven, Rambeau was a captain for SWORD trying to help agent Jimmy Woo (Randall Park) and acting SWORD manager Tyler Hayward (Josh Stamberg) figure out what was going on with Westview. Now, however, Rambeau appears to have had his origin story as a Photon.

While in the comics, extradimensional energy came from an energy disruptor weapon, the energy that hit Rambeau in the series came from the force field surrounding Wanda’s Westview. She crossed the force field several times, but after Wanda widened Westview’s radius in episode six, the energy walls seemed stronger than ever in this final episode.

They were so strong that Rambeau could not pass with a heavily armored space vehicle. Instead, she went through it on her own in a trippy streak where we heard the voices of several key characters, including a young Monica, her mother Maria, Nick Fury and Captain Marvel herself, Carol Danvers.

The voices also spoke about Monica’s mother, Maria, and included dialogue from “Captain Marvel” as Monica pushed her way through the energy barrier. The last line in the sequence came from Danvers: “Your mother is lucky. When they were handing out children, they gave her the hardest part.”

It gave Monica the strength to move on, and she emerged in Westview with glowing blue eyes and heightened vision.

His new outfit inside the Static Wall was also significant. The colors and pattern closely resemble Photon’s superhero costume from the comics, which fans loved.

After that, we got to see Wanda and Monica clash briefly, concluding with Monica’s very first superhero landing.

Monica Rambeau was first played by Akira and Azari Akbar at age eleven and five, respectively, in “Captain Marvel.” Monica’s mother, Maria, was heavily involved in this movie, played by Lashana Lynch.

Maria died during the five-year Blip caused by “Avengers: Infinity”, in which Monica was pulled away only to return after the events of “Endgame”. Monica appears to be a key player in the MCU going forward and will appear in “Captain Marvel 2.”
