Monitoring COVID-19 in Lancaster County

LINCOLN, Neb. (KOLN) – The Lincoln-Lancaster County Health Department announced on Sunday that 76 laboratory-confirmed cases of COVID-19 have been reported in Lancaster County, bringing the community total to 26,193. The total number of deaths in the community remains at 187.

Vaccine registration from 4 p.m.: 57,900

An online COVID-19 vaccine registration form for residents of Lancaster County is now available at COVID19.lincoln.ne.gov. Those who do not have online access or need help can call LLCHD’s COVID-19 hotline at 402-441-8006 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. on weekdays to register.

The vaccine is not yet available to the general public. As vaccine doses become available, registrants will have an appointment to be vaccinated. Vaccination appointments depend on vaccine supply and are not tied to the order in which people register. Registration is open to all residents of the county, but those who are in Phase1B – those aged 65 and over and those with underlying medical conditions – are encouraged to register.

The COVID-19 risk dial is high orange, indicating a high risk of the virus spreading. Residents are encouraged to follow these recommendations to protect themselves and others:

  • Wear a face mask and stay at least six feet away when interacting with someone outside your home.
  • Work from home if possible.
  • Individual outdoor activities are preferred.
  • Small gatherings and events only with modifications (eg physical distance, masks, capacity limits, etc.).
  • Avoid large gatherings.
  • Visit RecoverLNK.com to learn how local businesses are taking precautions to protect their employees and customers.
  • Follow the Centers for Disease Control’s travel guidelines at cdc.gov.

Symptoms of COVID-19 include fever, cough, shortness of breath, repeated tremors accompanied by chills, repeated muscle pain, headache, sore throat, new loss of taste or smell. If you have symptoms, get tested. Testing is now open to all residents of Lancaster County by appointment only.

The testing process begins with a free online risk assessment available at BryanHealth.com, CHIHealth.com, or TestNebraska.com. In-car test sites include:

  • Bryan Health: Former Graham tire store, northeast corner of 19th and “O” streets. The tests are carried out from 8:45 a.m. to 11:15 a.m. Monday and from 8:45 a.m. to 11:45 a.m. Tuesday to Saturday.
  • CHI Health St. Elizabeth: Autumn Ridge Family Medicine, 5000 North 26th St. and Southwest Family Health, 1240 Aries Drive. Call one of the two sites to make an appointment: Autumn Ridge, 402-435-5300 and South West Family, 402-420-1300.
  • Nebraska Test: Gateway Mall, 6100 “W” Street, North Parking Lot of the Old Sears Store. Tests are carried out from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m. and from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. Monday to Saturday. For more information, call 402-207-9377.
