Monster Hunter Rise officially plus an exclusive Switch, coming to PC in 2022

We are exactly one month away from Monster Hunter Rise’s planned launch. Released on March 26, it’s a welcome return for Capcom’s action RPG series on Nintendo platforms, after we missed out on 2018. Monster Hunter World. Originally advertised as a Switch exclusive, Capcom has just confirmed that Rise is coming to PC now – something that was reported a short time ago following the Capcom data hack.

Speaking to Fanbyte for an interview, producer Ryozo Tsujimoto and director Yasunori Ichinose revealed that the PC version won’t launch until 2022, saying the port is “still very much in development.” Nothing was mentioned on the other consoles, so for now, Monster Hunter Rise remains an exclusive console for Switch.

There’s no reason for Switch fans to worry about this, as the duo have confirmed how they “decided to make a game for Switch,” fully aware of the console’s shortcomings. This includes a strong emphasis on portability, advising that gameplay be designed around “being able to grab and play whenever you want”.

As it is, Monster Hunter Stories 2: Wings of Ruin is still a Switch exclusive. There’s no news on whether this will receive a PC port as well, but we can’t rule this out either, given that it’s cross-compatible with Rise. We are awaiting more details on this feature, so we’ll keep you posted as we learn more.

Disappointed to see Switch lose a great exclusivity? Glad that other players can now participate in Monster Hunter Rise? Let us know below.
