■ Introduction

Ryozo Tsujimoto: Thank you for joining us for the Monster Hunter World: Iceborne Spring update. I am Ryozo Tsujimoto from Capcom. Last year in December, we announced Monster Hunter World: Iceborne and today we can finally reveal the release date. Monster Hunter World: Iceborne will arrive at the living room consoles around the world on September 6, 2019.

We just show you all the new promotional sequences of the game, and I have several members of the development team here with me to give you more details. Let's make a quick tour of introductions!

Kaname Fujioka: Hello everyone. My name is Kaname Fujioka, Executive Director and Artistic Director of Monster Hunter: the world and Iceborne.

Yuya Tokuda: I'm Yuya Tokuda, director of Monster Hunter: the world. I lead the development of World and all his updates. Today, I'm here to talk to you about some things we still have in store for Monster Hunter: the world.

Daisuke Ichihara: I am Daisuke Ichihara, director of Monster Hunter World: Iceborne. Today, I am here to tell you more about this new extension.

Tsujimoto: Thank you for joining me today, everyone. To clarify a little, the development of Monster Hunter World: Iceborne parallel to the production of title updates on Monster Hunter: the worldTokudo was therefore the director of the updates after the release of the main game, while Ichihara at the same time directed the direction of Iceborne. So without further ado, let's talk about the game!

We will first review the latest promotional video we published. Enjoy!

[Trailer plays.]

I'm sure everyone has a lot of questions, so let's go through all the new information.

■ Basic information

Tsujimoto: I will guide you with Fujioka and Ichihara. Let's see the basics first!

Fujioka and Ichihara: We are ready!

Tsujimoto: Monster Hunter World: Iceborne is a massive expansion DLC for Monster Hunter: the world. If you already have Monster Hunter: the worldyou only need to purchase the extension DLC to update the main game. If you want to play Monster Hunter World: Iceborneyou must own the main game.

Monster Hunter World: Iceborne has a completely new story. This story takes place after the end of the main game of Monster Hunter: the worldbut you will have to see for yourself what it is. We also have a new rank called "master rank". Monster Hunter: the world had low and high ranks, and the rank of master is a little higher than the high rank. It's like the G-ranking of previous games.

Now let's go into the really juicy details of the game.

■ New place

Tsujimoto: I will let Fujioka and Ichihara take things from here to give us the details of the game.

Fujioka and Ichihara: Thank you!

Tsujimoto: We will begin by introducing the new main hunting place in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne. Fujioka, please guide us through this new environment.

Fujioka: This new place is a snowy polar scene that is really requested by the fans. This is called Hoarfrost's reach. We have prepared a video clip so you can see what it looks like in real time.

The biggest features of this region are obviously snow, as well as extreme cold. Visually, it's very different from the main game areas. And elements such as the effects of snow and other visual elements of the scene have been the subject of special care, so we hope that you will pay attention to all the details.

Tsujimoto: I like the way the player leaves a trail behind him.

Fujioka: Exactly. This is something we have never really done before, so we wanted to make it as beautiful as possible. If you know Monster Hunteryou'll know that cold spots will lower your endurance gauge faster, which is obviously not ideal, but you can get a special plant like this. It's a hot pepper, which you can use to create hot drinks. These drinks will prevent the effects of cold. Monster Hunter veterans will be aware of this.

So let's take a look at the starting area. It's more like a forest, with a lot of trees. He has familiar creatures, like Popo. It's like meeting an old friend again. In previous titles, Popo, that is to say, was always attacked by various other monsters, so you will see herds here, as well as various forms of endemic life.

In a real polar region, you may not expect to encounter as many wildlife species, but we have created many rich and unique creatures for this region. For example, there is Stonebills, a type of bird, and those little insects that make snowballs, much like manure beetles. We call them "Rhime Beetles" and they roll snowballs (you see us here), and these rolled snowballs contain "Crystalburst" and you can use this Crystalburst as a Slinger ammunition.

Of course, this place has its own drakes, called Cortos. If you know Monster Hunter: the worldyou will know that you can use them to move from one area to another. We hope that players will continue to use them to facilitate their travel in these great places.

Tsujimoto: Oh, it looks good and hot.

Fujioka: Yes, we thought that in a cold region like this, you would like to be able to warm up somehow, so we added these natural hot springs. Hot springs have the same effect as hot drinks in that they contain cold-fighting components, so they are useful for preventing cold-related conditions. And in these hot springs, you will find monkeys …

Tsujimoto: I think they will be popular with fans.

Fujioka: … so that you can enjoy a relaxing moment with the local endemic life. So this new location, Hoarfrost Reach, is a newly discovered area. You will have to explore it. And you will open new parts of the map as the story of Iceborne progresses. At first, you will not be able to reach certain areas, but once you reach the central point of the story, it will open and in the end, it will be the largest region in the world. Monster Hunter: the world until there. So there will be a lot to explore and play.

■ New monster casting

Tsujimoto: Then let's look at the new monsters that will appear in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne. Where are we going to start?

Fujioka: Let's first see a new monster appearing in Monster Hunter World: Iceborne. Let's talk about Banbaro.

Ichihara: Banbaro debuts Monster Hunter World: Iceborne in the early parts of the game, and is a new raw wyvern.

Fujioka: That's true. He's a monster early in the game, so his attacks are pretty simple, but he also likes fighting battles with other monsters, which should lead to interesting situations. We have prepared some pictures of him, as we watch him in action, I would like to go into details.

Ichihara: Sure. As you can probably see from the pictures, his features are the huge horns on his head. He will use them to charge your fighter so that most of his attacks are in a straight line.

Fujioka: It's true, but it will pick up everything in its path, so depending on where you're fighting, it can throw rocks into rocky areas or, if you're in an area it can harvest whole trees. by loading you.

Tsujimoto: I see. So if he picks up a tree, it will increase the width of his attacks, so it will be more difficult to dodge and pose more threats.

Fujioka: Yes. Thus, even if he uses the same charge attack, the range of his attacks varies according to what he picks up along the way. You will need to pay attention to your environment while fighting it.

Tsujimoto: You know, I'm also curious about the ecology of this new monster. What can you tell us about his habits?

Fujioka: Well, this monster eats mostly plants, so it's not really carnivorous or anything else, and it usually leads a rather peaceful life. Sometimes he drinks hot springs like the one we showed before. So he goes quietly for a drink. And you can also see him doing things like sunbathing. As with other monsters in the main game, we had trouble creating all kinds of behaviors other than attacks. We hope that you will keep an eye on these details and will also benefit from them.

Let's look at another new monster. This one is called Beotodus.

Ichihara: Beotodus is really the first big monster you can fight in Monster Hunter World: Iceborneonce you reach Hoarfrost's reach.

Fujioka: You will start in an area where the snow is thick enough, and this monster likes to burrow deep in the snow, hiding and waiting for an opportunity to trap its prey. This is the kind of monster we wanted to have, so we really wanted to recreate a deep snow effect for this game. This monster will move with half of its body buried in the snow, like the players themselves.

Ichihara: He will attack you while he is immersed in the snow. You will need to find a way to get this monster out of the snow to really control this hunt.

Fujioka: That's true. As we explained a few moments ago, Banbaro also appears early in this game. Their ecological territories are very similar, so their lands often overlap, which means you will often see them fighting. So I think the players will really enjoy and face them alone.

Tsujimoto: You will meet these monsters soon after starting the rank of master?

Fujioka: Right. Beotodus, for example, is a carnivore, so the Popo that you saw before is one of the prey he will go after. Of course, we made sure to show the predation scenes of this kind in the game correctly, so we hope you pay attention to these things and enjoy them.

Tsujimoto: Then we would like to talk about a very popular monster of the series.

Fujioka: For Monster Hunter World: Iceborne, we also wanted to bring back some fan favorites, including the one who made his first appearance in United freedom. So I would like
take a look at this monster now, Nargacuga.

Ichihara: Nargacuga will appear about halfway through history, and she has her own position in this world. As usual, it does not feel like you're going through, so let's look forward to it.

Fujioka: Right. The defining characteristics of Nargacuga are his quick attacks and his cunning and cunning fighting style. And of course, all these features remain intact here. But of course, he will also have new tricks in his bag for Monster Hunter: the world, so look forward to that.

Ichihara: Yes, we made sure to bring back all the movements you know and love, but since Monster Hunter: the worldwe also gave him a more WorldI am sure everyone will appreciate the changes made to this title.

Tsujimoto: I see, and as Nargacuga is now part of this new world, it means that he will also be involved in territorial wars.

Fujioka: Exactly. This is actually one of the points of Monster Hunter: the world we put a special emphasis on, and we made sure that there are a lot of new territory wars here. You can see a little here in the video, Nargacuga will fight with Rathalos, for example.

Ichihara: Fans will love that, I'm sure.

Fujioka: And you'll have the opportunity to see it up close, it's a very brutal fight, so it's something we hope you're looking forward to.

Tsujimoto: Then we have one last monster that we will show you today. This is the new flagship monster for Monster Hunter World: Iceborne. Let's take a closer look now.

Fujioka: Whenever we publish a new game in the Monster Hunter series, they still have a new flagship monster just for that title, and since that's an expansion for Monster Hunter: the world, and Monster Hunter: the world is all about looking for and looking for Elder Dragons, the main monster in Iceborne is a new type of ancient dragon. This new monster is defined by the use of ice attacks and is called "Velkhana".

And since this is an ancient dragon, he does not just use simple ice attacks, but his behavior has something different that proves that you are fighting this ancient and mysterious creature. We are sure that players will find it interesting.

Tsujimoto: We stick to a very basic introduction today, but we'll tell you more about this monster in the future, so stay tuned.

■ New hunter actions

Tsujimoto: Then, Ichihara will tell us a little more about the new junter actions added for Monster Hunter World: Iceborne.

Ichihara: In Monster Hunter World: Icebornewe have expanded the hunter's movements a lot, so I wanted to give everyone a glimpse of what we have in store.

First of all, Monster Hunter: the world introduces the Slinger, which for most weapons can only be used while your weapon is shit, but Monster Hunter World: Iceborne you can use your Slinger with your weapon unsheathed, for all types of weapons.

Fujioka: You will be able to prepare your Slinger and use various objects with your unobstructed weapon, which will considerably increase the strategies at your disposal.

Ichihara: You can now shoot Flash Pods with your drawn weapon, for example. We have also added a new feature to the Slinger called Claw Claw. This allows you to shoot a claw while preparing the Slinger, which allows you to attack monsters.

Fujioka: Controlling monsters in various ways was a central theme of Monster Hunter: the worldaround which we have designed many hunters' actions. The claw claw is essentially an extension of this, in that it allows you to directly control monsters.

Ichihara: When you cling to a monster, several actions are available to you. What we are showing here is Flinch Shot, which allows you to unload all your ammo on the ground while hanging on the monster's head to send it back in the direction it is facing.

Fujioka: Yes. You can use it to send monsters to traps, snap them against walls or create attack opportunities.

Ichihara: We have added new combos and elements for all types of weapons. For example, with the big sword, you can now shoot more powerful Slinger shots in combos. This is called a powerful shot, and although its range is shorter, it is also much more powerful, which allows you to make it easier to mute monsters. So, in the case of the big sword, you can mix this into your combo, which facilitates the landing of a charged attack.

Fujioka: By throwing the monster before your attack, you can then launch the attack, simply by combining the actions.

Ichihara: As another example, using double blades, you can shoot more powerful shots while avoiding them, and the double blades even allow you to perform other actions, like using the clutch claw directly in its new combos.

Fujioka: Well, you can go to attack to hang on to the monster's body in the same combo.

Ichihara: We have also added new features to the Lightgun Bowgun, as well as new custom mods. The mod we show today allows you to reload your ammo while escaping. This custom mod is designed for reloading. If you perform two consecutive avoidance actions, the second move will be a slide, and this mod will allow you to reload while avoiding slipping.

Fujioka: There is this movement that allows you to turn the barrel a bit, and allows you to reload an ammunition cartridge.

Ichihara: That's right, and if you equip several mods, you can reload more rounds in one round.

We have only touched on a few of the weapons here, but we will have another video on all new weapon features later, so look forward to it.

Tsujimoto: So today, we've looked at the new locales, new monsters, and new actions, but we'll share more as we get closer to the release, so stay tuned. listen for more updates.
