Malik Beasley is now free to hold hands in public with Larsa Pippen.
E! reports that Beasley’s wife Montana Yao is filing for divorce just days after the scandal became public.
“Montana filed for divorce the day she saw the photos,” an insider told the site. “Montana never cheated, and it’s not in his character. She’s not dating anyone. It is a member of the family. She focuses on taking care of her son with his parents. They are in quarantine together. Her son is her first priority.
On Tuesday, footage of the Timberwolves guard with Pippen, 46, surfaced during a November 23 outing in Miami. Yao was allegedly “blinded” by the gunfire, according to TMZ.
Ahead of his controversial date with Pippen, Beasley, 24, said he wanted to take the mother-of-four on a date, asking her via an Instagram comment.
“I just want to take you on a date and treat you like a queen,” Beasley wrote on November 16 on a message from Pippen, according to a screenshot from Comments by Athletes.
But before news of the divorce filing became known, sources told the Post that the couple were living separate lives. Yao – who has a child with Beasley – has previously been linked with Broncos safety Su’a Cravens, with whom Beasley had an argument last year.
Yao has also spoken on social media about the images.
“I will always stay true to who I am and God has never let me down,” she posted on her Instagram story Tuesday. “The truth always comes out one way or another …”
“Wow… I don’t even know this man… it’s crazy, I am seeing him for the first time like all of you,” Yao wrote in another post.
Pippen – who filed for divorce from NBA legend Scottie Pippen in 2018 – also posted a revealing post on Instagram on Wednesday.
“Don’t always trust what you see on social media. Even salt looks like sugar, ”she wrote.
Pippen’s 20-year-old son Scotty Pippen Jr. also took to the internet buzz on Twitter Tuesday.
“Focused on myself and my goals. I am not responsible for anybody’s actions. Everything’s going good here, ” he tweeted.
Pippen was pictured returning home in Miami on Wednesday.
