The rover would have a "lunar surface navigation range" of over 6200 km, says Toyota.
Although Japan has never launched manned spaceflight, JAXA said the Toyota Lunar Rover could be an important part of a future manned launch. "Our goal is to launch such a vehicle in space in 2029," said Koichi Wakata, vice president of JAXA.
