More and more users are complaining about Galaxy S20 / Note 20 broken wireless charging

[ad_1]

A good number of Galaxy S20 Ultra and Galaxy Note 20 Ultra owners have complained about wireless charging issues following the latest firmware updates. A growing number of owners have highlighted the issue on official and unofficial forums, and from what we can tell, the issue apparently only occurs with some third-party chargers, but not all.

We haven’t encountered these issues with our Galaxy S20 and / or Galaxy Note 20 series phones, but according to user reports, the problem is wireless charging that experiences constant interruptions every few seconds. Affected users all claim to have been able to wirelessly charge their phones using the same third-party chargers in the past, however, the issue started to arise after one of the recent firmware updates.

It’s unclear exactly which update can cause this wireless charging issue for the Galaxy S20 and Galaxy Note 20 range, and judging from user reports, most cases only affect Ultra models. Looking at the timeline of events, the culprit could be the September 2020 or October 2020 security patch.

Affected users claim to have tried everything from restarting the device to clearing the cache and doing a factory reset with no results. The problem seems to be spreading, but so far it appears to affect a relatively small number of Galaxy S20 / Galaxy Note 20 owners compared to the number of units sold globally. Or maybe the problem exists for many more users, but it’s still hidden from those who don’t use wireless charging regularly or at all.
