More than 24,000 pounds of beef recalled unsuitable for human consumption

WASHINGTON (WVLT) – American Beef Packers recalled more than 24,000 pounds of beef products, including sirloin, rubies and beef tenderloin, after being deemed "unfit for human consumption".

The Food Inspection and Safety Service of the US Department of Agriculture (FSIS) announced that a carcass had been accidentally released and processed into raw beef products.

Raw beef products were produced and packaged on August 21st. The following products are likely to be recalled:

  • Bulk combination bins containing "AMERICAN BEEF PACKERS 85 BEEF CHUCKS WITHOUT BONE" with LOT NO. 110, NO. 85 and NO. 86
  • Bulk combination bins containing "AMERICAN BEEF PACKERS 90 BONEELESS BEEF" with batch number. 110 and BIN 81, BIN 82 and BIN 83
  • Bulk combination bins containing "AMERICAN BEEF PACKERS 85 BONEELESS BEEF" with batch number. 25-110 and BIN 84 and LOT 110 and BIN 88
  • Cases containing "AMERICAN BEEF PACKERS RIBEYE 8/10 N ° 1" with codes BT190821-1178, BT190821-1185, BT190821-1188, BT190821-1190 and BT190821-1194
  • 66.2 lbs case containing "AMERICAN BEEF PACKERS RIBEYE 10 UP # 1" with code BT190821-1186
  • Bulk pack containing "AMERICAN BEEF PACKERS 90 BEEF SIRLOINS WITHOUT BONE" with LOT NO. 24-110 and BIN 80.

Consumers who have purchased these products are urged not to consume them. FSIS stated that the products should be discarded or returned to the place of purchase.

To date, no adverse effects related to the consumption of the products has been confirmed.

FSIS stated that anyone concerned about a reaction should contact a health care provider.
