‘Hey little kitty, go’: Jogger has a tense confrontation with California mountain lion as he blocks his way for five minutes

A man out for a morning jog on a California trail almost came face to face with a mountain lion who walked his way earlier this month.
The incident, which the man captured on camera, occurred on November 2 in Trabuco Canyon, California.
The video begins with the man running along the path, accompanied by the sound of birds.

After a few moments, the man stops running as he sees an animal in the distance, heading towards him.
“Oh, it’s a coyote coming,” he says, as the camera zooms in on the animal as it walks towards it.
A few seconds later, the man realizes his zoological error.
“Oh shit, it’s a mountain lion,” he said, before trying to chase him away with a “Hey little kitty, go away”.
Instead of retreating, the mountain lion holds its place, looking in the direction of the man.
As man’s efforts to make the animal disappear fail, he says, “I will slowly back up.
The man said the standoff with the mountain lion, who was sitting in the middle of the trail, lasted about five minutes. The animal was finally distracted by something and walked away
In response, the mountain lion sits in the middle of the path.
The man and the beast remain in their respective positions for a while, until the mountain lion’s attention is drawn to something in the distance. Finally, the animal gets up and walks away.
“Good boy, come home,” the man said. “Oh my God, thank you.
The man later told ViralHog that the standoff lasted more than five minutes before the mountain lion turned and walked away.
The National Park Service recommends that people stay calm when they encounter a mountain lion, stand and stand or slowly back up.
They warn against approaching the mountain lion, crouching down – to pick up something – or running away.
