As a legitimately world-class grapple, Dillon Danis' transition to MMA would have been something that hardcore fans would have watched. But Conor McGregor's friend and training partner has an even more impressive skill than his congratulations to the BJJ: the ability to put himself under the skin of people, he will never fight. Danis so irritated Khabib Nurmagomedov that after submitting McGregor to UFC 229, "The Eagle" flew out of the cage and launched a fight to try to attack Danis. Now, Danis has managed to annoy another undefeated UFC fighter.
On Monday, Danis spoke to Ariel Helwani about his second bout against the newly announced MMA and took the time to specifically call Ben Askren, saying it was the easiest fight possible.
"I really want to go against Ben Askren," said Danis. "We should do a cross promotion. I put a million dollars against him because it would be the easiest fight. I was tapping on him so easily, Ariel. He is so athletic and he is so bad on the field. A wrestling match that would not even be a match. It would be like 20-30 seconds. A fight, I would beat him anyway in the first round but he would not fight me. "
Askren is a former Olympic wrestler who has had an outstanding career in amateur wrestling. He has won two national championship titles and has been awarded four times by the NCAA D-1 All-American All-American. He is one of four men to have twice won the Dan Hodge Trophy. He pursued a sensational career as an MMA, scoring 19-0 with a draw. Danis, for comparison, is almost strictly a competitive wrestler at this stage, having only made his MMA debut last April. This disparity and Danis' bold statement seemed to have had the desired effect on Askren, who had spent three hours mocking Danis on Twitter after hearing the comments.
The fact that @espnmma and @arielhelwani give this guy the airtime is a little embarrassing. Could no one be better than a failed BJJ 1-0 who played in the Ariel show? If you're as desperate, I'll hire myself in a 20-minute weekly spot to help you rank. https://t.co/wqbAu6NWLu

In addition to attacking the absurdity of Danis' $ 1 million wager, Askren also took the time to make some videos showing Danis for his skirmishes, including the time he pretended ridiculously that he was a better version from Khabib.
"Hey Dillon, do you remember when you told Conor that you were a better version of Khabib and that he was ready for the fight? L-O-L. Boom, roasted. "
"Dillon, you did not even participate in the secondary state tournament! You are afraid. Boom, roasted. "
"Yo Dillon, who do you consider more your father, Conor McGregor or Gary Tonon? Boom, roasted. "
But it is perhaps the most personal of all the attacks, that of Askren who raises a toast of Danis. Askren, who had a personality cult around his "funky" afro in college, a style he still retains today, attacked the jugular against Danis, mocking his faded blonde hairstyle.
"Yo Dillon, the teenagers of 2004 want to get their hair back. I mean seriously, who is fading hair? You are afraid. Boom, roasted. "
C & # 39; not the first time Askren went after Danis and almost certainly it will not be the last. Meanwhile, Danis has to fight with Max Humphrey at Bellator 221 on May 11 to keep himself busy. Askren will be present at UFC London this weekend to fight with Darren Till.
