Morning report: Daniel Cormier thinks Jake Paul ‘beats’ Dillon Danis in boxing match, Danis responds

Jake Paul is now a growing concern, at least tangentially, in the world of MMA.

Last weekend, the YouTube sensation took to the boxing ring for his second professional fight, knocking out former NBA player Nate Robinson in the second round. It was arguably the most impressive performance of the weekend and immediately prompted a number of other professional athletes, including several MMA fighters, to volunteer their services for Paul’s next fight. But while many are on offer, Paul himself seems to have his sights set on two men, who are conveniently training partners: Conor McGregor and Dillon Danis.

After his victory on Saturday, Paul described his plan to eventually box Conor McGregor going first through his relatives, namely Danis, and Danis was quick to respond.

But while Danis looks ready for the fight, given what Jake Paul looked like last weekend, former UFC heavyweight and light lightweight champion Daniel Cormier thinks he might be. be better for Danis to let this dog lie.

“Jake Paul beats Dillon Danis in a boxing match, but Jake Paul doesn’t beat Conor,” Cormier told Ariel & DC. “Conor can box. Conor is the real deal. But I think he beats Dillon. Dillon doesn’t need to fight Jake Paul because he will get beaten.

Things certainly seem to be moving towards this fight. Paul has a huge platform and is generating enormous interest and is possibly the biggest opponent Danis could hope to face. And if that happens, Cormier at least admits that it will be a step forward for Paul to take on other celebrities, and a better fit for Paul than fighting a legitimately good boxer.

“You can’t learn to box in three months,” DC said. “It’s taking too long and you can tell the kid Jake Paul has been training for over a few months. Now calling him Conor, his brother calling Floyd Mayweather ,. . . Floyd Mayweather would destroy his brother. But Jake Paul-Dillon Danis, I’m there.

Danis, a former BJJ champion, is best known as McGregor’s training partner and right-hand man. Danis has yet to show a lot of striking play in his two fights inside the Bellator’s cage so far, but without him apparently doubling down on his mimicry of McGregor’s character, throwing some shadow over almost everyone, including Cormier, after hearing DC’s opinion on his boxing future. .

Cormier, of course, responded, doubling down on his claim by threatening Danis with none other than Jake Paul.

Danis hasn’t competed since June of last year, an unannounced Max Humphrey’s first-round armband at the Bellator 222.

N / A.

Dillon Danis is one of the most fascinating people in MMA. Not because he’s interesting himself – he’s not – but because he’s going to show off the curious nature of the celebrity. For example, he’s not even a good troll – you could give Danis an iron and Cormier would obviously kill him – but because he knows a famous guy and sometimes has a microphone in front of him, he might well make $ 1 million boxing a YouTuber. . It must be nice.

Thanks for reading and see you tomorrow.
