Thanks to a storm that was to start early Saturday morning, Boston could see up to 6 inches of snow in the afternoon.

The National Weather Service has issued a weather advisory for parts of Norfolk, Suffolk, Bristol and Plymouth counties – the areas with the most snow – between 1 am and 4 pm Saturday.

Forecasters predict that snow will begin around 5 am in Boston and that the storm will leave the area on Saturday at noon.

On Friday morning, forecasters forecast 4 to 6 inches of snow in Boston and the South Shore. Further north and west, the accumulation decreases. Worcester should see 2 to 3 inches of snow and Fitchburg could see 1 to 2 inches.
