A totally different fighter could have been expected instead of the nasty Batman if these screenshots are real

Fans of Mortal Kombat 11 were blown away by the release of the official Kombat Pack trailer. In this one, we learned the identity of the last two characters in the pack and saw what each of the original fighters in the game would look like.

The Kombat Pack consists of Shang Tsung, Nightwolf, Terminator T-800, Sindel, DC Comics Joker and Spawn, but a message in the game appeared after the revelation appears to have originally contained the name of a completely different character. The place of the joker. Potential spoiler alert: We'll go into details beyond this point, so get away now if you want to avoid potential spoilers.

Several screenshots appeared online showing a notification in Mortal Kombat 11 announcing the Kombat Pack and its full range. What's interesting is that, instead of Joker, we see that none other than the protagonist of Evil Dead is listed as part of the cast.

Although it is quite possible that it is counterfeit well done – and it should be noted that when we searched ourselves notification in the game an hour after the 39th having spotted the first day, we received the one that correctly lists Joker – several different people online. sharing different screen captures the same message.

The message in question reads: "Shang Tsung, Nightwolf, Terminator, Ash Williams, Sindel and Spawn will participate in the fight." This differs from the standard message we see now, which says "Terminator T-800, Sindel, Joker and Spawn will join the fight."

If it was really a mistake of NetherRealm Studios and / or Warner Bros., there would be plenty of evidence to support it.

For starters, Ash Williams is not just a random choice of character to stimulate things. Smack talkin's wise-ass has seen various clues, rumors and potential leaks from its inclusion in the game over the last few months – though Ash's actor, Bruce Campbell, has bluntly stated that "there's no reason to believe that." he was not in the game.

When the Nintendo Switch version of the game was exploited about four months ago, a Reddit user claimed to have found file names pointing to nine new incoming DLC characters. These included not only Ash Williams, but also Nightwolf, Sindel, Spawn, Joker and Terminator.

Shortly after, a Test Your Might forum user shared what he claims to be an extensive collection of dialogues in the game featuring each of these DLC characters interacting with each other and others characters from the list. Once again Ash was here.

The biggest allusion to Ash came when NetherRealm Studios unveiled the core content of the Kombat pack with the gameplay of Shang Tsung. Towards the end of the window, we see a white text saying "and two other guests", followed quickly by a chainsaw and blood splash on the words, which fans immediately associated with Ash and his arm.

When the Kombat Pack was finally fully revealed earlier this week, the trailer was highly praised. However, one thing seemed strange to many fans, and this thing was Joker.

Many people were not surprised that Joker made the cut, especially considering the aforementioned leaks, but the character's design just seemed … strange, and was highlighted by many fans on social networks. The presented Joker does not seem to draw too much from the various iconic looks that Batman's Nemesis Archer has established over the years, but even apart from that, watching Joker next to other characters from downloadable content in the trailer sees it coming out for some reason, as if its rendering style was different or possibly rushed.

Again, it is only speculation based on everything we have talked about so far. However, a tweet from Mortal Kombat's Creative Director, Ed Boon, shortly before EVO 2019, makes me think that the plans for the Kombat Pack have been changed – and this in a short time.

On July 31, just days before EVO, Boon went on Twitter to give an overview of Nightwolf's upcoming character and provide fans with an update on the rest of the DLC characters. His message included some cryptic statements that did not really make sense at the time, but could apply to what we are seeing now.

"MK11 players are waiting for news from DLC characters, we know this timing is not ideal and FWIW is not our choice …"
– Ed Boon from Netherrealm Studios.

"The MK11 players are waiting for news from the DLC characters, we know that this timing is not ideal and FWIW is not our choice," Boon said. "But thanks for staying with us, things are still going well for the Nightwolf trailer tomorrow, stay tuned …"

To say that "this moment is not ideal" and that "it is not our choice" gives the impression that the initial plans of society to reveal their characters had changed. If that's the case, that would explain why the Nightwolf trailer was released a few days in advance instead of seeing a big pack of Kombat unveil on the main EVO stage, and could explain this potential notification error in the game showing that Ash Williams was originally scheduled in this Kombat Pack instead of Joker.

In the end, if the message we see on social networks is legitimate and that Ash was expected to be in the Kombat Pack, it could mean a number of things for the favorite S-Mart collaborator of any the world. Either Ash has been moved to a launch after this first Kombat Pack has run its course, or the character has been completely abandoned and Joker has replaced it.

This is a big box of Pandora filled with Mortal Kombat 11, but what do you think? Was the notification error real and the fact that Ash Williams was supposed to belong to Mortal Kombat 11 did he reveal the opposite? Or should we remove our paper hats from aluminum?
