Mortal Kombat 11 has been available on Switch for about a week or two, and is a pretty nice product in its own right, but the release has been somewhat hindered by abusive work culture claims from developer NetherRealm.
A report by USGamer highlights the voices of four people who have previously worked as subcontractors at NetherRealm. Although their presence in the company predates the development of Mortal Kombat 11, they tell stories of crisis, stressful working conditions and an environment in which managers and full-time employees have benefited from those hoping desperately to gain a secure job within the company.
The problems seem to come from the basic configuration of NeatherRealm, which allegedly contains a selection of subcontractors mostly composed of junior employees in the video game industry. A source told USGamer that "some people from NetherRealm forced temporary workers to carry out the project," revealing that they saw two people "collapse because they could not keep up."
The number of temporary agents would apparently be high and the competition for permanent positions will be fierce.
