More interesting information was revealed during the session with Game Informer's 166 Rapid-Fire questions with Ed Boon. Last time, we learned that Mortal Kombat 11 will have multiple purposes, just like Injustice 2.
Ed Boon had among other things discussed the best-selling game sold by NetherRealm to date. Mortal Kombat X reportedly sold nearly 11 million units.
"What is your best-selling game of all time?" That was the question asked by Game Informer.
"Mortal Kombat X," replied Boon. "We sold nearly 11 million copies."
For a fighting game, these numbers are extremely impressive. Up to now, 2.9 million units account for the reported sales of Street Fighter 5. In the meantime, we learned that Tekken 7's was sold at more than 3.6 million copies and that Dragon Ball FighterZ had sold more than 4 million.

Of course, Super Smash Bros. Nintendo's Ultimate has managed to sell 12 million units in just three weeks after its launch, but this series is quite different.
Interestingly, all of these other titles tend to be popular in Japan. The Mortal Kombat franchise, however, does not usually have this type of popularity. This means that it is likely that these 11 million copies come mainly from the US and European regions of the world.
It is also worth noting that Mortal Kombat X was not the most recent title of NetherRealm Studio. Injustice 2 was still considered the most profitable match of the second quarter of 2017.
Will Mortal Kombat 11 be able to outperform Mortal Kombat X in terms of sales? This seems like a plausible scenario considering how NetherRealm continues to increase its production values after each title.
Notably, many characters come back despite their previous absence due to fan demand. Characters like Baraka and Skarlet are no longer playable since Mortal Kombat 9.
