Morticia Addams in Tim Burton’s Wednesday

Carolyn Jones and Angelica Huston (and the voice of Charlize theron) came before her, and now it’s Catherine Zeta-Jones’ chance to glam like the spooky and creepy Addams family matriarch Morticia. The Oscar winner is the latest addition to the cast of Tim burton‘s upcoming series for Netflix following the teenage supernatural adventures Wednesday Addams.

While others details on the series are still rare — Zeta-Jones is Morticia, Luis Guzman is her husband Gomez, and Jenna ortega it’s wednesday, and that’s about all we know so far– it seems quite likely that the Morticia and Gomez characters will be take over a back seat in this particular story. The show in eight episodes untitled The Addams Family, after all, it is Wednesday-asd as Variety reminds us, Burton will be very focus attention on that specific character, bringing us “a supernatural mystery retracing Wednesday Addams’ years as a student at Nevermore Academy. Wednesday’s attempts to harness her emerging psychic ability, thwart a monstrous slaughter that terrorized the local town, and solve the supernatural mystery that implicated her parents 25 years ago—all while navigating his new, very tangled relationships in Nevermore.

There are certainly some The Chilling Adventures of Sabrina-type vibes coming out of this description, and after a few career detours involving Johnny Depp covered in special effects makeup and a live disney flying elephant, it’s exciting to consider what Tim Burton could create by truly adopting a to come back to its Gothic roots. He will produce and direct next to Wednesday creators and showrunners Al Gough and Miles Millar; for the moment there is no word yet on when the series might a finger snap to Netflix.
