Mosquitoes in Essex tested positive for West Nile

ESSEX, Vt. (WCAX) West Nile virus has been detected in mosquitoes in Essex.

The Vermont Health Department says it's the first positive result achieved this year in the state.

In infected humans, West Nile virus can include fever, headache, body aches, joint pain, vomiting, diarrhea and rash.

Officials say that it is essential to protect yourself from mosquito bites. If you are outside, be sure to wear long clothes and apply insect repellent.
