Perhaps one of the world’s most wanted fugitives was sitting right behind the plate in a 2016 Dodgers game … and yet officials say they’re still struggling to catch him.
The American marshals claim Jean Ruffo – who was convicted of defrauding $ 350 million in an elaborate bank fraud scheme in the 1990s – was possibly the guy in the blue shirt and glasses in a prime spot at a Red Sox game against the Dodgers in August 2016.
The Marshals say the bald, older man in the show’s footage looks a lot like Ruffo – a guy they say has eluded them for nearly 24 years.
According to the Marshals, after his conviction, Ruffo was “ordered to report to a federal prison in New Jersey on November 9, 1998” to begin serving a 17-and-a-half-year sentence, but he never showed up.
Instead, the Marshals claim he rented a car, took money from an ATM (which they say they captured on video), and headed to JFK Airport – where he then went faded away.
Authorities say, however, that he could have been the Section 1 Dugout Club, Row EE, Seat 10 man at Dodger Stadium in Los Angeles more than 5 years ago.
The Marshals raised their suspicions in a statement Wednesday … claiming that anyone who can help them locate the 66-year-old – who they say is around 5ft 5ft and 170 pounds – could receive a reward of up to up to $ 25,000.
His capture would be a big deal … The marshals named him one of their “15 most wanted“and described him as” a master manipulator. “
Of course, this wouldn’t be the first time that Dodger Stadium cameras have helped authorities solve a case … remember, Larry davidThe “Curb Your Enthusiasm” team helped free a murder suspect in the early 2000s.
In that case, Juan Catalan had been charged with the murder of a 16-year-old … but Curb cameras showed he was in fact at Dodgers stadium the night of the murder.
The video finally exonerated him… and he then met and thanked David for all of it.
