– Police arrested Camille Singleton in Georgia on Sunday afternoon and arrested her 2-year-old son who was the subject of an Amber alert.

Singleton, 31, is accused of killing her grandmother, Inita Gaither, who was found dead in a house in Clayton on Thursday afternoon.

“It was a struggle knowing that something like this happened to her because she was so kind and outgoing,” neighbor Ronald Thomas said.

Officials with the South Fulton Police Department in Georgia said she was arrested at a Walmart around 11 a.m. Police received a call from a concerned citizen who recognized her.

2-year-old Dior Singleton was not abducted from the home where the homicide took place, police said. Dior was with his mother when they came to Clayton and eventually left with her.

The child was not injured, officials said.

Officers responded to the Crawford Parkway home around 4:30 p.m. Thursday after someone asked for a welfare check. Inside, they found the owner, Gaither, dead. She was 68 years old.

The Clayton Police Department requested that an Amber Alert be issued after discovering that Dior Singleton’s father was currently deployed on a US Navy ship at sea.

“I am relieved and happy that they have been found. I am glad the baby is well. It was our main concern,” said Thomas.

Singleton is expected to be transported to Fulton County Jail and taken into custody.

Officials said family members should pick up Dior Singleton.
