A mother found unresponsive in an Ontario home where the bodies of her two daughters were found Tuesday was cited as a suspect in their deaths, police said Wednesday.

Investigators opened a homicide investigation after a teenage daughter and her baby sister were found dead at their home in East Tam O'Shanter Block 500. Officers responded at home around 4 pm after receiving a call from the father of the children who had found them in the garage, Ontario Police Sergeant Bill Russell said.

Russell said the officers immediately began practicing CPR on the siblings when they were found, but that they could not be reinstated. Their mother was found unresponsive and was taken to the hospital, where she is in a stable state, he said. Neither the sisters nor their mother have been identified.

Russell said the investigators had found a suicide note written by the mother inside the house stating that she was considering killing her children before committing suicide. The woman battled depression, he said.

"Strong evidence leads us to believe that it is the only person who has acted in this case," said Russell. "It's a horrible tragedy."

It's unclear how the children were killed, but Russell said it was obvious that a fight had been going on in the house.
