Motorola Expands Budget Phone Line With $ 160 Moto G Pure

Motorola is the one with another budget device. Runs on the MediaTek Helio G25 octa-core processor, rather than the Qualcomm Snapdragon 460 seen in the slightly more expensive.

The G Pure has 3 GB of RAM and 32 GB of storage (expandable up to 512 GB via microSD). The 6.5-inch IPS TFT LCD display only has 720p resolution, which could help Motorola cut costs.

Motorola says you’ll get up to two days of use with the 4000mAh battery. It promises fast charging through the USB Type-C port. The handset is water repellent, with an IP52 rating, which means it must be able to withstand spills, splashes and light rain. There are also fingerprint and face unlock sensors, as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack.

The rear camera setup includes 13MP camera, 2MP depth sensor, and LED flash. On the front there is a 5MP selfie camera. Motorola says you can capture video from both sides in Full HD at 30 fps.

There is unfortunately no NFC or 5G support. However, Motorola says the device will work immediately.

Pre-orders for the unlocked Moto G Pure will open on October 14. On the same date, Verizon (the former parent company of Engadget) will offer it at no additional cost to people who subscribe to a new line of smartphones. The Moto G Pure will be available from other suppliers and in Canada in the coming months.
