Motorola's Razr foldable handset will be launched by the end of the year – BGR

A few months ago, it really seemed that 2019 would be the year of foldable smartphones. Samsung and Huawei had just unveiled the Galaxy Fold and Mate X, and several companies have mocked their foldable projects. Among them, Lenovo, Motorola, revealed that a collapsible device alone would come to the market at about the same time as other brands. The clue seemed to be clear at the time.

The new Motorola Razr, a device already present in the rumors about foldable smartphones, would compete with the Fold and the Mate X. But Samsung and Huawei have both delayed their collapsible handsets, Samsung having to deal with an embarrassing launch cancellation in April in the light of day. problems of durability of the fold. The month of September is almost here and the Galaxy Fold and Mate X are still not available in stores. Not surprisingly, the Razr foldable has not been announced either, and we have seen little in the reports. But it turns out that the phone could still be launched this year, perhaps in time for the holiday season.

The rumor comes from the Dutch blog LetsGoDigital, who learned from an anonymous source that the phone would be launched in Europe in December or January. The site said it had checked the information and thought it was accurate.

The Razr is expected to be unveiled in the coming months in the United States, and the phone is expected to cost about $ 1,500 in the region. That's about $ 500 cheaper than the Fold and almost $ 1,000 cheaper than the Mate X – the Huawei phone is not intended to be launched in America.

The report notes that the Razr could reach European markets shortly after publication in the United States, at a price of around € 1,500. The actual dates are not given for any of the regions, so it's hard to know when Motorola will unveil the new phone.

The Razr foldable is based on the iconic series of Razr flip phones. Leaks said the phone would have a large internal screen, as well as a smaller screen on the outside. Motorola will do things differently compared to Samsung and Huawei with regard to specifications. The Razr will not be a flagship phone, meeting the best mid-range specifications. It may be for this reason that Motorola will be able to maintain the price of the foldable. Of course, these are just unconfirmed rumors at the moment.
