FRISCO, Colo. (AP) – Wildlife officials said that a Colorado man had done everything to survive a mountain lion attack before the animal was killed by the authorities.
The Summit Daily News reported Friday that Colorado Parks and Wildlife used hunting dogs to hunt down and kill a mountain lion in the morning after attacking a hunter last week.
Officials said the man was monitoring elk hunting sites in Big Horn Park, about 193 kilometers northwest of Denver, when he sighted the animal.
Wildlife officials said the mountain lion had attacked the man who had stumbled away slowly.
Officials said the hunter had managed to stab the animal in the face with a pocket knife before escaping.
According to the authorities, an autopsy revealed that the animal had only grass in the belly and that he was probably hungry.
