Nelson could be responsible for the murder of a 30-year-old man in Los Angeles, which occurred about an hour before Solano was shot dead, said Los Angeles Police Chief Michel Moore.

On Tuesday morning, before Nelson was arrested, he went to a church in Long Beach where he called his father and "evoked the fact that he had killed two of them," the sheriff said. .

A revolver corresponding to the weapon used during the Solano attack was found in Nelson 's car, authorities said. In Nelson's car, clothes were also found that the armed suspect was seen on video at Jack in the Box, officials said.

It does not appear that Nelson knew Solano, said the authorities, adding that the MP on leave was not carrying anything to identify as an officer.

Nelson arrived in Utah in southern California the first week of June, authorities said. He had been missing from Utah, the sheriff said.

Nelson is on bail of $ 2 million, reported ABC's Los Angeles TV channel KABC. We did not know immediately if he had a lawyer. He is scheduled to appear in court Thursday.
