An MS-13 member who resides illegally in the country has been accused of kidnapping a student from Tennessee and having beaten him because he reportedly refused to join the violent gang.

Franklin Pineda-Caceres, an 18-year-old Honduran national, was arrested this weekend after being involved in a car accident in Nashville, according to reports released Tuesday. Officers said they found a substantial amount of cocaine in his vehicle.

Federal prosecutors in Tennessee on Tuesday accused Pineda-Caceres of illegal reinstatement. He was expelled in May 2018 after being accused of drug-related crimes, authorities said. He first entered the United States illegally in 2014.

The accuser of Pineda-Caceres was a student at Glencliff High School, reported Fox 17 Nashville.

According to judicial sources, Pineda-Caceres lobbied the student to join the notorious gang in January, according to the channel.

When the student refused to become a member of MS-13, Pineda-Caceres and two other people forced him to board a vehicle and then beat him, reported the station. .

Police began investigating the case in April and attempted to apprehend Pineda-Caceres in July.

He was then able to move away in a Chevrolet Camaro, crossing the front yard to avoid police vehicles and almost hitting his girlfriend, his mother and his young son, according to Fox 17.
