Returning during its presentation at CES 2021, MSI unveiled its latest GeForce RTX 30 Sea Hawk series graphics cards which will be available in RTX 3090 and RTX 3080 flavors. The Sea Hawk series comes with an AIO liquid cooling solution. to provide better thermals on flagship Ampere graphics cards.
MSI GeForce RTX 3090 and GeForce RTX 3080 Sea Hawk graphics cards unveiled with 240mm AIO liquid cooling
MSI has unveiled a range of technical details, mostly specific to its AIO liquid cooling solution that is featured on Sea Hawk graphics cards. The GeForce RTX 3090 and GeForce RTX 3080 Sea Hawk cards will be based on a no-reference PCB design and will come in a dual slot form factor which is standard for AIO based solutions. MSI’s solution is one of three liquid-cooled RTX 30 series graphics cards, the other two being Kingpin Hybrid from EVGA and Neptune from Colorful. The ASUS ROG STRIX LC variant is so far exclusive to the Radeon RX 6000 series.
Looking at the specs, both MSI GeForce RTX 30 Sea Hawk series cards will feature a solid aluminum shroud with a black and silver color scheme. The board includes an ASETEK pump equipped with a micro-finned copper base that cools the GPU and VRAM modules. VRMs have their own heat sink which is supplied with air by the unique Frozr fan located on the fairing. The copper baseplate has large thermal pads for the memory modules to ensure good heat dissipation.
When it comes to the heat sink, both MSI GeForce RTX 30 Sea Hawk graphics cards have a 240mm design and durable tube technology implemented to maintain elasticity at high temperatures and extreme resistance to permeation. and corrosion. The heatsink is fitted with two MSI Torx Fan 4.0 which offer 70% increased air pressure over standard PWM fans while spinning at 35dB. It also uses Zero Frozr technology to provide lower acoustics when the GPU is not pushed too far and stays below 60C. Finally,
MSI has included a backplate on both boards that recalls the design featured on its new SUPRIM X series. MSI has not given a word on the availability or price of said cards but expects them to hit the market by the end of the first quarter.
