Flynn asks not to move on to sentencing yet, but the government says its cooperation is complete, beyond mere testimony at a future trial.

"The defendant could cooperate further under the plea agreement" with the special advocate's office Robert Mueller, Flynn's lawyers and prosecutors specialized lawyers wrote Tuesday. However, "in the opinion of the government, its cooperation is otherwise complete," they wrote.

Flynn could testify at the trial against his ex-partner, Bijan Kian, who has pleaded not guilty to lobbying charges abroad, lawyers said.

A federal judge in Washington asked for the update after Flynn asked to delay his conviction in December.

Flynn appeared before Judge Emmet Sullivan of the DC District Court in December. Mueller's team requested a minimum prison sentence, but the judge was angry about the crimes committed during the hearing and encouraged him to continue to cooperate.

No new conviction date has been set. Flynn could be sentenced to five years in prison, although a more likely sentence is zero to six months in prison.
